I am a post-doctoral researcher at the Laboratoire Parole et Langage (Labex Brain and Language Research Institute) at the University Aix-Marseille. I work together with Mariapaola D'Imperio on the online processing of the prosodic-pragmatics interface in L1 and L2 acquisition, using eye-tracking measures. I've been recently awarded with a Juan de la Cierva post-doctoral grant, so in spring 2017 I will start a new post-doctoral adventure at the Language Acquisition Research Group (GRAL) at the University of Barcelona!
In September 2014 I defended my PhD thesis in the Group of Prosodic Studies at the Department of Translation and Language Sciences at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona). Under the supervision of Pilar Prieto (ICREA-UPF), my dissertation looked at how prosodic cues and pointing gestures are integrated in the infants' ability to communicate intentionaly (link to my thesis).
My research focuses on the interface between prosody, pragmatics, and gesture. I am mainly interested in how these aspects interact in first and second language acquisition, and I look at them using an experimental approach.
NEW! Check out the new website Before Their First Words! It is a multimedia science tool that promotes awareness and provides observation tools for parents and educators interested in early language and communicative development, and a result of a collaboration between my former lab in Barcelona and the APAL group of the University in Barcelona.
