I am a post-doctoral researcher at the Language Acquisition Research Group (GRAL) at the University of Barcelona, funded by the Juan de la Cierva-training program. I work on first and second language acquisition with a focus on prosody, gesture, and pragmatics using an experimental approach. I recently finished a two-year postdoc at the Laboratoire Parole et Langage (Labex Brain and Language Research Institute) at the University Aix-Marseille in France.
In September 2014 I defended my PhD thesis in the Group of Prosodic Studies at the Department of Translation and Language Sciences at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona). Under the supervision of Pilar Prieto (ICREA-UPF), my dissertation looked at how prosodic cues and pointing gestures are integrated in the infants' ability to communicate intentionaly (link to my thesis).
NEW! Check out the new website Before Their First Words! It is a multimedia science tool that promotes awareness and provides observation tools for parents and educators interested in early language and communicative development, and a result of a collaboration between my former lab in Barcelona and the APAL group of the University in Barcelona.
